Freedom from unwanted hair.

Image Electrology Studio

People usually think of shaving, waxing, sugaring, tweezing, or laser treatments when it comes to hair removal.

There’s ONE, and only one method of hair removal that’s classified as permanent by both the American Medical Association & the FDA.

…and that’s electrolysis.

Why Electrolysis?

It’s permanent

Unlike shaving or waxing, electrolysis provides permanent results. It targets the hair follicle, destroying it completely so that hair doesn’t grow back.

It’s versatile

Electrolysis can be used to remove hair from almost any part of the body, including the face, legs, underarms, and bikini line.

It’s safe and gentle

Electrolysis is safe and gentle hair removal, even for those with sensitive skin. It doesn’t use harsh chemicals or heat, so there’s no risk of burns.

It’s cost-effective

While electrolysis may seem expensive upfront, it’s a cost-effective option in the long run. Since it’s permanent, you won’t need to keep paying for hair removal treatments over time.

It’s good for your skin

Unlike shaving or waxing, electrolysis doesn’t damage your skin. In fact, it can improve the appearance of your skin by preventing ingrown hairs and reducing the risk of scarring.

Julie is actually the best. Seeing her is a very pleasant and welcoming, and even a comfortable experience! She most definitely put me at ease from the first appointment and she does STELLAR work. I’ve seen more results and less skin irritation from her than multiple other electrologists I’ve been to previously. I’d give 10 stars if I could ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Founder

Julie

Hi! I’m Julie, and I am proud to be one of Oklahoma’s most experienced electrologists. With years of dedicated practice and training, I have had the privilege of transforming countless lives by helping clients achieve smooth, hair-free skin.

My journey began with finding that first chin hair. That discovery seemed to snowball quickly into a horribly embarrassing facial hair situation that no plucking, waxing, or daily shaving held at bay for long.

When I discovered that the only permanent hair removal solution was electrolysis, I couldn’t wait to get my freedom back. It worked so well that I’ve had many other areas treated over the years, and eventually I became licensed so I could share this with others who have the same problems.

Professional Expertise

As the primary proctor for students pursuing their Electrologist licenses in Oklahoma, and with over 10 years of experience, I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of excellence in the field. My extensive knowledge and hands-on experience ensure that every treatment at Image Electrology Studio is performed with precision and care. When you choose me as your electrologist, you can trust that you are receiving top-tier service from a true expert.

In Oklahoma, unlike some other states, electrologists are licensed and overseen by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. We have a high level of training and stringent requirements, as opposed to some states that have no licensing or who are overseen by cosmetology boards. I’m proud to be the only board approved proctor for all electrologist trainees in the state.

A Personal Touch

Beyond my professional accomplishments, I am a devoted family woman who cherishes my husband and kids. My passion for serving others extends into every aspect of my life, and I find immense joy in helping both men and women overcome the challenges of unwanted hair. I understand the impact that hair removal can have on one’s confidence and quality of life, and I am dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all my clients.

Thinking about laser hair removal?

If you’re excited about the idea of being hair-free and are considering a laser hair removal clinic, it’s important to take a close look at the fine print on the consent form. While many people do see good results, there’s also a surprising risk you might not hear much about: laser treatments can sometimes stimulate more hair growth instead of reducing it. It’s rare, but it does happen — even if you seem like the perfect candidate. So, why does this happen?

Paradoxical hypertrichosis: when laser backfires

This phenomenon is called paradoxical hypertrichosis — and yes, the name alone sounds intimidating. While researchers aren’t exactly sure why it occurs, we do know that in some cases, laser treatments can cause hair to grow back thicker and darker instead of disappearing. Let’s take a look at why this might happen.

Laser settings and skin assessment matter more than you think

One explanation relates to the temperature needed to properly treat a hair follicle. Laser needs to heat the hair to about 65 degrees Celsius to destroy the follicle’s germ cells. If the heat falls short — say around 45 degrees — it may actually stimulate new hair growth instead. So not only do those dark hairs run the risk of getting darker, it can make your peach fuzz black and thick.

This is where experience and technique really matter. A good laser technician needs to do two things every session:

Accurately match the laser settings to your skin type, and

Carefully assess how your skin responded to your last treatment.

Unfortunately, these steps don’t always happen. Sometimes the laser is intentionally set lower to make sessions less painful, but that can leave follicles partially treated. And in larger clinics where different techs may treat you at each visit, it’s harder to spot subtle signs that adjustments are needed.

Hormonal factors can also play a role

Another possible reason for unexpected hair growth involves underlying hormonal imbalances, like PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). PCOS often causes excess facial and body hair due to higher levels of androgens like testosterone. Sometimes women aren’t diagnosed for years. In these cases, laser might not cause the hair growth — but it could speed up a process that was already underway.

Electrolysis vs. Laser Hair Removal: Understanding the Difference

When it comes to permanent hair removal, it’s essential to choose the method that delivers the best results. At Image Electrology Studio, we specialize in electrolysis – the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal.

While laser hair removal is a popular option, electrolysis offers distinct advantages that make it the superior choice for those seeking truly lasting, smooth skin.

Because electrolysis treats each individual follicle directly — without relying on skin type, hair color, or precise temperature thresholds — it provides consistent, reliable results across all hair types and tones. And most importantly, it completely removes the risk of paradoxical hair growth that sometimes occurs with laser.

At Image Electrology Studio, we’re passionate about helping you achieve the confidence that comes with permanently smooth skin — safely, effectively, and with personalized care every step of the way.

Why Electrolysis is Superior

  1. True Permanence:

Electrolysis is the only hair removal method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal. Unlike laser treatments, which often require ongoing maintenance sessions, electrolysis targets and destroys the hair follicle completely, ensuring that hair does not grow back. This means once the hair is treated, it’s gone for good.

  1. Versatility and Effectiveness:

Electrolysis is effective on all hair types and skin tones. Laser hair removal can be less effective on lighter hair colors and darker skin tones due to its reliance on pigment to target the hair follicle. Electrolysis, on the other hand, uses a fine probe to deliver a small electrical current directly to the follicle, making it suitable for everyone, regardless of hair or skin color.

  1. Precision and Permanence:

Electrolysis allows for precise targeting of individual hairs, making it ideal for areas with sparse or stubborn hair growth. This precision ensures that every hair follicle is treated effectively, leaving little room for regrowth.

Often compared to laser hair removal, the truth is, the two approaches couldn’t be more different. It’s like comparing apples and oranges. In some cases, laser hair removal attempts are not effective at all. Laser hair removal isn’t permanent, but it’s a great way to ensure clients must return again and again to be retreated. Who wants to spend thousands of dollars on something that isn’t permanent? The only FDA method recognized as permanent for hair removal is electrolysis.

  1. Safety and FDA Approval:

Electrolysis is the only method recognized by the FDA for permanent hair removal. This approval underscores its safety and effectiveness. Laser hair removal does not carry the same level of endorsement for permanence and can have varying results based on hair and skin type.

  1. Minimal Side Effects:

Electrolysis treatments are generally well-tolerated, with minimal side effects such as slight redness or swelling, which typically subside quickly. Laser hair removal can sometimes be very painful, and has been reported by some to cause burns, blistering, scarring, and other changes in skin texture.

The Science Behind Electrolysis

Electrolysis works by inserting a fine probe into the hair follicle and applying a small electrical current. This current destroys the growth center of the hair, known as the dermal papilla, preventing it from producing new hair. There are three types of electrolysis – galvanic, thermolysis, and blend – each utilizing different forms of electrical currents to achieve the same permanent results.

Galvanic Electrolysis: Uses a direct current to produce a chemical reaction in the follicle, effectively destroying the hair root.

Thermolysis: Utilizes a high-frequency alternating current to generate heat, coagulating the proteins within the follicle and causing it to cease function.

Blend Method: Combines both galvanic and thermolysis techniques, offering a highly effective solution for various hair types and growth patterns.

The cost of electrolysis varies based on the size of the area being treated and the number of sessions required. We’re happy to give you an estimate when we do your goals. The permanent results make it a cost-effective solution.

How soon will I see results?2025-04-27T19:27:52+00:00

Some clients notice a reduction in hair growth after the first few sessions. However, achieving permanent results typically requires multiple sessions over several months, as hair grows in cycles. In other words, one group of hair is resting while another group is growing, so you are treating different groups of hair growth.

Can men also benefit from electrolysis?2025-04-27T19:27:27+00:00

Yes, electrolysis is effective for both men and women. Many men seek electrolysis for areas like the back, chest, and face.

Is electrolysis more effective than laser hair removal?2025-04-27T19:27:10+00:00

Yes, electrolysis is more effective for permanent hair removal.

While laser hair removal can reduce hair growth, it often requires ongoing maintenance sessions.

Electrolysis destroys the hair follicle completely, resulting in permanent hair removal. That’s why it’s the ONLY FDA approved method of permanent hair removal.

How should I care for my skin after an electrolysis treatment?2025-04-27T19:26:36+00:00

Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching it with unwashed hands. Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 24 hours after treatment.

Follow any additional aftercare instructions provided by your electrologist.

Ibuprofen is excellent for reducing any inflammation and preventing any discomfort.

How do I prepare for an electrolysis treatment?2025-04-27T19:26:02+00:00

Avoid tweezing, waxing, or threading the hair for a couple of weeks before starting treatment and switch to shaving to let more hairs grow and make your treatment more effective.

Let hairs grow for 36-48 hours before your treatment for best results.

Reducing caffeine and increasing water and rest will make your treatment even better.

Are there any side effects of electrolysis?2025-04-27T19:25:33+00:00

Side effects are minimal and typically include slight redness or swelling at the treatment site. These side effects usually subside within a few hours. Following aftercare instructions helps minimize any potential side effects.

What areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis?2025-04-27T19:25:10+00:00

Electrolysis can be used to remove hair from almost any part of the body, including the face, eyebrows, underarms, bikini line, legs, and back.

Can electrolysis be used on all hair types and skin tones?2025-04-27T19:24:46+00:00

Yes, electrolysis is effective on all hair types and skin tones. Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis does not rely on pigment and can successfully treat light, dark, fine, gray, and coarse hair.

Is electrolysis painful?2025-04-27T19:24:26+00:00

Electrolysis treatments are generally well-tolerated. Some clients may experience slight discomfort during the procedure, similar to a slight tingling or pricking sensation. Topical anesthetics can be used to minimize discomfort.

How many treatments will I need?2025-04-27T19:23:54+00:00

The number of treatments varies depending on the individual’s hair growth cycle, the area being treated, and the density of the hair.

Every hair on your body cycles through 4 stages at different times: growth (anagen), transition (catagen), resting (telogen) and shedding (exogen).

Because you have hairs at every stage in an area, clients require more than one session to achieve permanent results. For example, the hairs that are not actively growing one month may go back into a growth cycle and have to be treated.

Is electrolysis safe?2025-04-27T19:22:25+00:00

Yes, electrolysis is a safe and effective method of hair removal. It is the only hair removal method approved by the FDA for permanent results. Side effects are minimal and typically include slight redness or swelling, which subside quickly.

How does electrolysis work?2025-04-27T19:21:54+00:00

Electrolysis works by inserting a fine probe into the hair follicle and applying an electrical current. This current destroys the growth center of the hair, preventing it from producing new hair.

What is electrolysis?2025-04-27T19:19:04+00:00
